Programming adapter for PIC17C57X :

It is possible to program the PIC17C57X with a  PICSTART PLUS. Therefore you need a special programming adapter. It's available with Microchip (100 Euro) or you can build it by your own. Time and money are reasons for building this adapter by your own. Therefore connect a ZIF socket with a DIP40 socket like shown below. 

The  schematic as well as the PCB has been designed with EAGLE. Below a possible PCB design is shown. If you are using the same socket, then you can directly use my PCB design for making the adapter. Download from Cadsoft the light version of Eagle and open the schematic and PCB with it for printing or modifications.
