Luckily found

 successful stone age method

This was the beginning: I wrote kind letters to all US DG400 owners, telling them that I'm interested in buying a DG400 and would appreciate every hint. With this "stone age method" I was able to reach owners, which weren't using the internet at all.

first impression

Surprisingly I got seven responses - all owners who bought their ships new in the 80s and 90s and took really good care of it. Two of them were directly in front of my door (measured with US scale) and when I saw my DG400 it was love on the first sight :-)

pulling out

The gelcoat was perfect and the overall impression was very good. The previous owner took really good care of it and everything was in a perfect working order.

engine test run

The interesting part on the engine test run was, that the engine did start right a way, even after it wasn't running for a couple of weeks.

There were still a couple of things to clarify, but on a nice Wednesday evening we were driving home our family member - the future "MR"  :-)
